Blogging from the Ottawa Kiwanis Music Festival

I am in Ottawa this week as the Junior Voice Adjudicator at the National Capital Region Kiwanis Music Festival.  Although I can't go into detail about the singers I'm hearing, I will say that I am hearing some incredibly polished, mature and musical singing!

With over 10,000 musicians (yes, TEN THOUSAND) participating this year at their 65th Anniversary, the Kiwanis Music Festival NCR is one of the largest in the country.  They have re branded and connected with the social media network (you can find them on Facebook and Twitter) making them timely and accessible to all generations!

Kudos to all the collaborative pianists that are playing this week - there have been some outstanding performances despite the oppressive heat, the long days and huge classes of singers! Check out this article on the Festival with a focus on well-known pianist Evelyn Greenberg....I can't wait to hear more!

Hi Elizabeth!

I know the young singers you're hearing this week have worked very hard and are very excited to be participating in the festival! I met one of them at choirs earlier this week as she also competed in the festival with her school choir! It is her first year competing and she is thrilled.

We are very happy to be celebrating our 65th Anniversary this year and I thank everyone for their positive feedback about our new look! As the festival is happening I'm also getting to meet people who follow us on Facebook and Twitter. It's nice to meet these fans in person!!!

I will see you over the next couple of days as I'll be stopping by Junior Vocal to say hi!

I'm thrilled that all of the participants are having a good time! There are many wonderful young singers that I am looking forward to hearing again in 5 and 10 years as professionals!!

I'll look forward to seeing you at St. Timothy's later in the week!
